I recently purchased or upgraded to a 2011 Polaris 850 XP EPS and it was recalled already (technically two weeks before I bought it, but the dealer took it back the day after I took it home). Has anyone had experiance with these machines that dealt with the recall or problems?

I had a recall on my 06 Suzuki when I first bought it. Had to take it back to the dealer for a fix, they needed to weld on the rear suspension mount at the frame. Took about a week, but then I got it back good as new, didn't cost me anything cept the gas money for transport. Good luck with yours.

What type of recall is it? I had a recall on my 05' Sportsman 700 and had to have the entire wiring harness replaced in less than a year and other issues with the heat shield. The dealership had it for a few days and everything was covered. I'm sorry to hear that you've had this experience & hope it gets fixed quickly. We were thinking about getting the 850 for Mud Man but are waiting a bit longer until all the "bugs" are out. I've heard a lot from other Polaris riders that had steering issues.

The bulletin is SAF-11-01. I contacted Polaris and they sent it too me and I haven't been able to open it, even with three different computers. Neither the dealer or polaris have been able to give me an answer of what it is. It had to go back to the dealer and they had to send it to polaris for inspection. I have heard anywhere from motor problems to suspension problems. My biggest issue is that I am supposed to be heading to Washburn County for five days on Wednesday the 14th and i have no response from either the dealer or polaris on when i am getting it back. My brother-in-law just bought the 2011 850 XP without the EPS, and only had one problem with the oil going into the air box, but that got fixed at the dealer and hasn't had any other problems and he likes it.

I found this on RangerForums.net doing a Google search:

" I just bought a 2011 850 EFS from MOM's in Foxboro Mass. On August 5th, 2011 there was a Technical Bulletin SAF-11-01 that told Dealers to stop selling these models. I bought mine from MOM's 8 days after the stop sale was issued to all dealers. I firmly believe they ignored the stop sale to move the units.

Subsequently, Polaris issued ATV-11-02 on August 18th to replace all intake and exhaust rocker arms , THE CAMSHAFT and all necessary gaskets and seals to perform the repair.

While at no charge, this is major engine work for my machine which has 5 hours on it, left the dealer two weeks ago when it never should have been sold. We will see today if the dealer takes the machine back.....Refer to Massachusetts Implied Warranty of Merchantability Laws, M.G.L. SS2-314."
